With vast experience in designing commercial and home swimming pools, at Westcountry Leisure we can create a range of different pools to suit your needs.
Our design service covers everything from the layout of the pool right down to the choice of swimming pool tiles. We have been involved in this business for over 25 years and over that time have covered hundreds of products, ranging from simple chemical supply to the design and build of large commercial indoor pools.
All swimming pool designs and constructions are undertaken by local professionals who are directly employed by us. You will also have direct contact with our managing director, who oversees every step of the project and is available to contact at any time.
On site you'll be able to liaise with the construction leader and the supervising engineer. They will be able to answer any questions you may have, and are fully trained in all areas of swimming pool design and construction.
Westcountry Leisure is committed to introducing the latest design tools that will ensure a beautiful, safe and efficient facility that will provide the client with savings on the through life cost of the project. With our in house designer we provide a custom design for every project that enables us to minimise excavation and materials by providing calculations for the key structural elements carried out by professional engineers to Eurocodes. We have a responsibility to adhere to the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2007 to eliminate hazards and risks using design risk assessments to provide a facility that is safe to construct and maintain.

We have a traditionally trained draughtsman with over 20 years of experience, that implements the use of CAD for the creation of all our drawings and designs to BS 8888 & BS ISO 128 for general arrangements and details.
We were an early adopter of 3D CAD and currently use a number of different software packages to undertake as much design in 3D whenever possible as this provides all members of the design team the benefits for producing concepts at the outline design stage and efficiency when producing multiple views and details that can be modified as the design develops.
The recent adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) at Westcountry Leisure will help us to minimise the disruption of design changes that are a natural process for the stakeholders of a project team and has the objective of reducing capital cost and carbon burden by 20% from the construction and operation of the built environment. BIM has the advantage of creating a 3D model that can be utilised by the different disciplines of the design team at key stages of the project using Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) data drops. There is also the possibility of using 4D programme data such as Microsoft Project and 5D cost elements for Quantity Surveying. This is a technology that we are already utilising and welcome collaboration from architects and engineers that wish to use iBIM for future projects.
One of the key benefits of using 3D and BIM is the ability to produce computer generated visualisations of project proposals that enable our clients to see the design intent and make key decisions on materials, textures and lighting. With the ability to create photorealistic images from various camera angles or provide short videos of walkthroughs we have found that this an extremely useful tool that clients and developers are keen to exploit at a very early stage of the design programme.
